Book Club Alert: 2019 Great Group Reads Just Announced

Sep 22, 2019

For the past ten years, the Women’s National Book Association has created the Great Group Reads list made up of twenty novels and memoirs that are perfect for book club discussion. The list is curated by a committee of readers from around the US and is published in conjunction with October’s National Reading Group Month.

I’m delighted that No Good Asking has made the 2019 Great Group Reads list, alongside Waubgeshig Rice’s Moon of the Crusted Snow, also from ECW Press. The 2019 Great Group Reads Selections are:

The Affairs of the Falcóns by Melissa Rivero
All You Can Ever Know: A Memoir by Nicole Chung
The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson
Death of a Rainmaker by Laurie Loewenstein
The Girls at 17 Swann Street by Yara Zgheib
Haben: The Deafblind Woman Who Conquered Harvard Law by Haben Girma
The Honey Bus: A Memoir of Loss, Courage and a Girl Saved by Bees by Meredith May
The Last Year of the War by Susan Meissner
Laurentian Divide by Sarah Stonich
The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart by Holly Ringland
Love You Hard: A Memoir of Marriage, Brain Injury, and Reinventing Love by Abby Maslin
Moon of the Crusted Snow by Waubgeshig Rice
Mrs. Everything by Jennifer Weiner
No Good Asking by Fran Kimmel
Retablos: Stories From a Life Lived Along the Border by Octavio Solis
Southernmost by Silas House
Tomorrow’s Bread by Anna Jean Mayhew
Tonic and Balm by Stephanie Allen
The Tubman Command by Elizabeth Cobbs
Unfurled by Michelle Bailat-Jones

I can’t wait to read these titles and to share them on book club visits in the coming months. A big shout out to the dedicated volunteers at the Women’s National Book Association for their tremendous commitment to championing books and the love of reading.
